Mr. Edgar has 11 years of structural engineering experience, including commercial and
residential design, structural analysis, and damage assessments. Mr.
Edgar has worked for Barton & Shumer Engineering, LLC since 2012
These projects are as structural consultants for Architects and involve buildings from a few thousand to hundreds of thousands of square feet. Materials used include wood framed, light-gage framing, masonry, concrete, steel, and Insulated Concrete Filled (ICF). A variety of heights from one to five stories. Types of structures include office buildings, warehouses, mixed-use multistory, apartment complexes, etc. We designed for high wind speeds along the gulf coast and Florida. Our design includes foundations, floor framing plans, roof framing, lateral design, all relevant sections, details, and design notes. We provide material specifications, review shop drawings and provide on-site inspection and reports during construction. Mr. Edgar and Barton & Shumer Engineering have designed thousands of residential projects over the past 19 years.
These projects include houses of over ten thousand square feet to a few hundred square feet additions. We work as consultants to Architects, Designers, and Developers. We have designed hundreds of houses in FEMA flood zones on timber piles and masonry piers. Most designs are in high-wind zones with shear walls or other lateral bracing. We design foundation, framing plans, roof plans, and all relevant sections and details. Mr. Edgar and Barton & Shumer Engineering have designed thousands of residential projects over the past 19 years.
We provide structural inspections of damaged structures for individuals, insurance companies, third parties, buyers, sellers, and developers. Inspections are for potential foundation damage and repairs if needed. We measure and documents floor elevations/foundations using Zip-level altimeters and levels. We provide framing damage assessments after storms, tree and debris impact, water intrusion, and flood damage. We inspect roofs after storms and hail events. We provide detailed reports including photographs, floor plans, roof damage, wind, and hail reports. We list damage and breakdown if damage is existing, from deterioration, or from weather events.
The purpose of the assessments is to provide a third-party opinion regarding the cause of damage to structures during Hurricanes. Assessments include inspections of structures and property and preparation of a report that describes the damage broken into categories, including damage from wind pressures and flooding and wave action during the storm surge.
